An idle RPG that doesn't hold your hand

The ash forgets nothing.

Ash has fallen over Veyr for as long as the oldest chronicles reach. It settles on rooftops, on streets, on the names of the dead — and it forgets nothing. Through the city gates you arrive: a stranger they call the Wanderer. You don't remember why you came. The city saw you coming long before you found its gates.

It keeps running — but it hands you nothing.

The Ash Remembers keeps running while you do something else: offline, in the background, overnight. But standing against the strongest foes takes better gear and a stocked pantry. The best thing you will ever wear is not bought — you forge it yourself, from what you wrested out of the ash.

A narrator walks with you.

The prologue, the eleven world bosses, the eight titans: their stories aren't just written down — a narrator reads them to you, in English and German, while the music steps back. Add a chronicle in 13 chapters and voices from the alleys that change with the hour and the calendar.

Patch 1.5.0 — The Ashen Night: a bonfire among glowing ash pumpkins

The Bonfire burns. Firemaking gets a heart of its own: throw whatever piles up into the fire, drive the heat up and earn the "Burning" or "Burning bright" blessing – with stages, auto-burn, a flame on your portrait and a heat bar right below the fire.

Plus: Ember Paths for all 21 skills with retroactive Ember Sparks (thanks, Holyjester), an Embertide where nothing expires anymore, with the new Ember Compass, a Mirror Lake where chests and keys balance out (thanks, Madazenus), every bait number in the tooltip and your reports (thanks, Rody, Isorn, countzero666 and Faith). And the Ashen Night? Who knows what else it is hiding …

Hotfix 1.4.3.1 — Tower foes in the bestiary, fishing without lost time

The Ash Tower's foes are now in the bestiary. The tower's seven own foes – such as the Nameless Day, guardian of floor 95, 195, 295 … – have their own section with kills, threshold and location. Nothing vanishes after reloading anymore (thanks, Rody).

Plus: auto-fishing on the lake page without lost time (thanks, Rody and Madazenus), key 6 for the fifth ability, boss repeats with an Ash Sigil in the Abyss fixed (thanks, Madazenus) and no more "Back to back" in the settings (thanks, Rody).

Hotfix 1.4.3 — The Ember Crucible shows what it takes

The Ember Crucible now shows what it takes. The upgrade melts surplus basic materials into Arcane Dust and takes 20,000 gold per run – silently, until now. Now the first run brings a clear notice, every run is in the journal, and a gold reserve (100,000 by default) protects your gold. Switch it off: Upgrades → Ember Crucible. Thanks, Holyjester and johnhawk!

Plus: the legend of Azen the Mirror Angler, a bit more offline gain, a Chronicler's Quill that reveals the whole loot table, frost stones with an extra +2 to +11% maximum life, workshop sets in the tooltip, two new switches and fixes from Discord and the forum. Patch 1.4.2 — The translations, gone over again thoroughly

All seven new languages checked line by line — Chinese first. Every language now has a fixed glossary, the same enemy, place or item has the same name everywhere, and every button, option and item was checked for meaning together with the place in the game where it appears.

Search works in every script, fragments have become whole sentences, and numbers use your language's format. Thanks, Rody, for the detailed notes on the Chinese version!

Patch 1.4.1 — Veyr now speaks nine languages

Patch 1.4.1: The Ash Remembers in nine languages

Veyr now speaks nine languages. New: Français, Español, Português (Brasil), Русский, 简体中文, 繁體中文 and 日本語 — everything translated, from the buttons to letters, cards and chronicles, around 12,500 texts. Pick your language on the title screen, in the main menu, in the settings or with the language button at the top.

Your language, your feedback. The new languages were translated from German and English with the help of AI and checked several times — but you know your language best. Something sounds clumsy? Tell us in the Steam forum or on Discord.

Also: the pack (companions at level 30 help from the bench with 10%, thanks eric-belair), the Ember Crucible (junk + gold → Arcane Dust), auto abilities per weapon type, Ash Sigils on boss repeat, a fixed workshop slot, “Forge without limit”, lake dishes are re-eaten automatically — thanks Fiedes, Madezeus, Madazenus, Rody and Meclodar.

Update 1.4 — The Mirror Lake

Update 1.4 — The Mirror Lake: a hero fishing on a pier in the mist, next to a horned giant with ember veins who is fishing too.

Arrow keys? Really? Tired of the arrow-key mini-game? Ready for some real fishing? No button-tapping here — here you reel.

Had enough world bosses for today? The titans can wait. So can the dungeons. And the World Ablaze will still be burning tomorrow. In the Mistmoor lies a lake that has no bottom — Rufus, the old harbour master, sends you a message in a bottle: bring him ten glass eels and the pier is yours.

Fish yourself or let the set line do it (offline for up to 12 hours): eight depths down to the ground beneath the ground, 18 fish, seven rods, seven baits, seven chests on the bottom, the Thousand Faces as a new boss and the Knowing Carp that swims by once a day. Below 1,000 metres five monsters of the deep carry the five Named Rings — plus four lake companions with their own films and the Angler’s Garb.

Also: in the World Ablaze every foe and boss card now shows the real combat values (thanks, Meclodar), dungeon bosses warn you when they outmatch you, and found recipes appear only once (thanks, Rody). Requires: Ember Trail I, Fishing 20, Combat 15.

Updates 1.3 to 1.3.10 — The Ash Wound

From 1.3 to 1.3.10 in a single week: a second depth opened beneath Veyr — and almost every day after that, something new arrived. The highlights:

  • 1.3 — The Ash Wound: five layers beneath Veyr, 25 foes of its own with one mythic unique each, a chronicle in eleven chapters, the Silent Chamber (catch and study creatures), the Shaft of Names as the sixth dungeon, a fifth attack for every hero and the world boss Ehl'Vurun.
  • 1.3.5 — The Abyssal Depth: a fourth dungeon tier for the Shaft of Names and the Deep Ground, Abyss Seals, the Abyss Shrine and the Abyss Mark.
  • 1.3.6: the hoard imp is now a foe instead of a click game.
  • 1.3.7 — The World Ablaze: a burning world with five times the health and three times the damage, the new main menu with ten save slots, the Ash Turning and the Loot Book.
  • 1.3.8: the endgame tightening from 1.3.7 is reverted — nothing you have earned gets taken away.
  • 1.3.9 and 1.3.10: eighteen World Ablaze garments, four workshop sets for crafting that can be refined in five tiers, and the red thread of the story beneath the world map.

Update 1.2.3 — Endgame Balance

The late game asks for more: tougher bosses, a steeper tower, hunting grounds and dungeons that grow with every Ashfall — and Heroic and Mystic Depths that pay more with every fall. Plus your wishes and reports.
